Now, onto some exciting news: Today marks the beginning of Project FeederWatch for the 2023-2024 season! If you're unfamiliar with this initiative, it's a North American bird survey that runs from November to April. What makes it special is its flexibility and inclusivity, allowing anyone with a passion for birds to contribute to significant scientific research. Here's what you need to know:

What is Project FeederWatch?

It's a survey that captures data on bird distribution and abundance during the winter months across North America.

Location: You don't need a backyard bird feeder! Any space—be it nature centers, community areas, or even your own backyard—with elements that attract birds like plantings, habitat, water, or food is perfect.

Your Schedule: Choose your counting days and decide how long you want to observe. It's all up to you.

Contribution: Once you've made your counts, simply enter the data online. Your observations will be part of a larger dataset that monitors changes in bird populations around participants' homes.

Benefits: Turn your passion for birds into meaningful scientific discoveries. Your participation aids in tracking bird population changes and contributes to a continental dataset.

Participation Details: The count is open to all, with a participation fee of $18USD. This small fee goes a long way in supporting the project and its mission.

So, if you've ever found joy in watching birds flutter about or have been intrigued by their behaviors and patterns, now's your chance to contribute to a cause that resonates with your passion. Let's come together, explore the beauty of nature, and make a difference in understanding our feathered friends.
